Our Journey: From Tennessee Heat to Tellico Heat
Founded in 2015 as Tennessee Heat, our dragon boat club began with a shared passion for paddling and community. Under the leadership of Mike and Alice Michelli, we embraced a spirit of camaraderie and adventure, participating in local races and building a tight-knit group. Despite financial challenges, our founders’ vision kept us afloat, and by 2018, we had grown enough to make a mark at the KARM festival. The turning point came in 2020 when we rebranded as Tellico Heat, reflecting our evolving identity and commitment to excellence. Today, we continue to honor our founders’ legacy by fostering a welcoming environment for paddlers of all ages and skill levels, while striving for competitive success.

Join us for an exciting day of races at the beautiful Tellico Lake. Witness our intra-club completition from the boardwalk at the Yacht Club as teams compete in thrilling dragon boat races to celebrate our 10th Season.

Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival
Presented since 2010 by Paddling for Cancer Awareness (P4CA) and Hosted by the Kentucky Thorough-Breasts Dragon Boat Racing Team with help from community sponsors, this family-friendly, Best of Northern Kentucky event takes place at AJ Jolly Lake, just south of Cincinnati.
Over the years, the Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival™ has attracted thousands of participants and spectators from local, national and international teams to Campbell County Kentucky.
Through this well anticipated event, teams and spectators come together for a fun-filled day or racing, camaraderie, and to raise funds through individual team fundraising, silent auction, raffle baskets, and “split the pot”.
