Tellico Heat Dragon Boat Club

As we reflect on the 2024 season, Tellico Heat thrived amidst the challenges, celebrating our race festivals, fitness paddles, and engaging in moonlight paddles that lit up the water with joy and camaraderie. Our dedication to fitness propelled club growth, attracting new members eager to share their passion for Dragon Boating. From an unexpected fish in the boat at the Kentucky festival, to the last season of KARM festival drove the race committee in the off-season to plan exciting new adventures to expand club competition for 2025. Despite the setbacks from the Helene flooding that impacted participation in the Lake James Festival, our spirit remained unbroken as we forged ahead with exciting plans for raft-offs and social events that helped to forge lasting connections, and strengthen our community and invigorate our passion for paddling. The on-the-water season ended with the Inaugural Intra-Club Race Competion offered a viewing and cheering location from the Yacht club boardwalk sparking the club’s new end-of-season tradition.

Our Journey and Mission

Founded in 2015 as Tennessee Heat by two passionate Floridians, Tellico Heat Dragon Boat Club has grown from a small group of enthusiasts to a vibrant community. Our mission is to promote dragon boating through fitness, team-building, and competitive racing, all while upholding values of honesty, integrity, respect, and sportsmanship.

The photo below is special for many reasons. Special because of the location – Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival in Alexandria, Kentukcy. Special because of what it represents. It embodies our mission, our drive to be and do better. The 2024 Season was pivotal in challenging the club to new adventures and ambitions while keeping tradition alive and well. As we move from a position of strength from 2023, we aim to Paddle More, Age-Less in 2024 and beyond.

Epic Fall Intra-Club Race

October 2024 Intra-Club Race proved to be a very exciting and fun way to end our season in some friendly competition and bragging rights that is soon to be a club tradition.

Drummer

Our season would not have been complete without Sandi as our drummer at several races. The drummer is key to bringing the team together and Sandi certainly brought joy to Dragon Boating this year.
